We have a varied staff at the practice from GPs to administration staff.  All are very helpful and patient-focused.  Please talk to them as they are all willing to help wherever they can.


Dr Robert J Partington (m)Dr Robert J Partington (m)

GP Senior Partner BSc, MBChB, MRCGP, FFA (Primary) Dr Partington works across both Mathews sites and has a special interest in sports science, having previously been an England U18 badminton player. He became a partner in the practice in 2002 and also works for the Out of Hours GP Collaborative. He has previously worked within the Royal Hallamshire, Barnsley District General, Northern General A & E and Auckland children’s hospitals. He has extensive knowledge and experience in respiratory medicine and anaesthetics, being qualified as an anaesthetist. He has not always been a GP but is also a qualified geologist and worked previously as an exploration geologist in West Australia and an oilfield geologist in Aberdeen.



Dr Rateb Abbas (m)Dr Rateb Abbas (m)

Dr Abbas is now a Salaried GP at the practice having taken a step down from being a full Partner in March 2018. Dr Abbas works at both Belgrave Medical Centre and White Lane Medical centre. He joined the practice in 2005 and held a Partnership role from 2007 - 2018. He has special interests in IT, orthopaedic surgery, diabetes and paediatrics. His previous experience has seen him working from Syria and Lebanon to England, where he has worked as a GP since 1999. Dr Abbas was born and raised in Damascus and represented Damascus university, Syria in playing chess.



Dr Gasan Chetty (m)

Dr Chetty is a Practice GP Partner and works across both sites. 

Dr Chetty is also responsible for Minor Operations at the practice. 

Dr Shalini Urs (f)

Dr Urs is a female GP who is contracted to the surgery currently as a long term locum. Dr Urs has been with the practice for several years now and is well known to the patients. 

Dr Shameela Ahmed (f)

Following a period working for the practice as a Locum GP, Dr Ahmed has now joined the Practice as a Salaried GP.
